At Rosehill School, we have an extremely talented School Choir who thoroughly enjoy singing and signing. The School Choir practice in the music studio with their peers, on a weekly basis, and they receive the support and encouragement of many staff who also sign with the Choir.
The Choir is open to all ages, abilities and needs (i.e. non-verbal/noise sensitive) across the school for those pupils who show a keen interest in singing, signing and music. This year, as the Choir has become extremely popular across all key stages, we have set up two Choirs; The Songbirds (KS1 – KS2) and The Harmonies (KS3 – KS5).
The aim of the Choir is to simply enjoy singing together and to have fun! Therefore, the choir offers an approach that promotes communication and wellbeing for all the children and young people who sing in it.
Over the last year, the School Choir have enjoyed singing at numerous events including the Christmas concert, where families enjoyed listening to the beautiful harmonies of both Choirs, RSE Day where they helped to launch the event and were joined by visitors from Nottingham City Council; plus the ‘Xpress Yourself’ community fundraising day where two members of the Choir did a superb performance on stage. Over the next term, the choir will be rehearsing for future events and they are planning on performing in Loxley House on a Saturday to mark the 10-year anniversary of the School Choir!
The Rosehill school also have a staff choir as part of the staff wellbeing .They practice on a Monday after school in the music room.
The choir performed to Jingle bell rock during our full staff briefing at the end of term and was well received
Look out for their next debut at the end of the spring term
